|The Henry McDade House is listed in Oakland, Louisiana, but is probably known as Haughton today. Once again, we have
Leslie to thank for these pictures. Unfortunately it seems as though I just missed seeing this house, since it is right down the
road from the Alford Road Cemetery. Just in case you cant see the sign in the picture, The McDade house was built by Henry
McDade, his wife Artie Lee Patterson McDade, and their 8 children around 1927. It's listed as a modified dog trot house with
one room on the south side of the house and three on the north. Also being that its listed in Oakland, I believe it should be pretty
close to the Sligo Road Plantation, which would give you a good reason to stop and see this amazing house, still standing.
